On 8-10 November 2017, the ICT Center of State University of Malang held a Network Management Evaluation which was attended by network managers at the faculty and work unit levels. The purpose of conducting network management evaluations is to determine the extent to which the progress of network management at the faculty and unit level includes the progress of moving to class A, installing Cisco WIFI, replacing old switches, replacing cables to cat 6e and the problems or obstacles faced. The bandwidth for 2017 is 2,000 Mbps, consisting of 1,300 Mbps for international and 700 Mbps for domestic and is planned for 2018 at 2,400 Mbps.

Currently the faculty and work units are still progressing to replace old equipment and cables, FMIPA and FIS have completed the migration process to IP class A, changing toplogy to star topology, replacing tools and cables. Other faculties and units are still in the process of moving, changing cables, changing topologies, and replacing old equipment. It is planned that the end of December 2017 all transfers to class A will be completed.

For wifi management, currently there are only 2 wifi in Malang State University, namely WIFI.UM and WIFI_1x.UM. WIFI.UM and WIFI_1x.UM both use SSO authentication, only WIFI_1x.UM only needs to enter the SSO account once. WIFI.UM points in the faculties and work units have been added, especially at points where there are many students gathering, but for 2018 there is still a need to add more. The addition of Cisco APs in 2018 is estimated at around 400-500 pieces. In 2018 all will use SSO authentication on both WIFI.UM and cable networks. Guests will create their own user.

Some faculties experienced problems regarding grounding, many tools were damaged by lightning so they had to be replaced. In fact, the ICT Center is also experiencing the same problem, many network equipment and servers are damaged due to electrical instability and also the current server room is still not in accordance with the standard of the datacenter space. 2018 will be designed for the creation of a new datacenter room in Building G1 1st floor.
